1. Make your own groups and complete one of the following task:

a)      Compare the movie and the book

What is different/ why…etc..

Like all books, Animal Farm, the book, is different from Animal Farm, the movie:

·         Some of the characters that were in the book were not in the movie. (Mr. Whymper, Clover, and Mollie)

·         Some of the events that were in the book were not shown or did not happen in the movie.

·         Squealer did not convince them to let the pigs use the apples and milk in their mash. (in the movie)

·         The ending (the book compared to the movie) :

-          After the finally power of the pigs, the animals decide to escape from the farm.

o   Fortunately they come back to with a strong feeling about destroying the pigs 

-          Therefore they come back a few years later to a big final fight between the animals and the evil pigs.

The big final clash between the pigs and the suppressed animals, results in the finally freedom of the pigs - and therefore a happy ending.  

 Comment on the themes:

There are a lot of themes and symbolism in the story. Of theme, which has to be mentioned is the ideology “communism”

"ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS"

The pigs are pretending acting the communism, but they are in fact deeply greedy.

Therefore would a theme also be selfishness, confidence, greediness and empathy.

A leader has to have empathy – otherwise the people (animals) will make a rebellion.
