Ernest Hemingway was an American author and journalist. Before he became an author he worked as a reporter for the Kansas City Star. In October 1954 Hemmingway received the Nobel Prize in literature. He has a very distinctive writing style. Hemingway's fiction was successful because the characters he presented exhibited authenticity that resonated with his audience.
During WW1 he went to the Italian front become an ambulance driver. He lived in Cuba during the 1930s and ‘40s, but in 1959 he moved from Cuba to Idaho, where he committed suicide in 1961.
In 1940 Hemingway published the novel "For Whom the Bell Tolls", which inspired Metallica to write the song "For Whom the Bell Tolls".
