The Hero

Group 1:
Although Ernest Hemingway's heroes have different names they are fundamentally the same person, drawing from the same traumatizing experiences.
What Hemingway finds to be important and hero-like is the achievement of
Self-redemption. Harry finds his Self-redemption, through the confrontation with old memories, and in the culmination of his poor choices. He finally is confronted with his own mortality, and enters the state of a “Hemingway Hero”.
On important influence on the story, was that Hemingway had a fear of dying without finishing his work.

“If you have to go away” she said, “it is absolutely necessary to kill of everything you eave behind? I mean do you have to take away everything? Do you have to kill your horse, and your wife and burn your saddle and your armour?
“Yes” He said.

In our opinion this quote emphasizes the fact that he finds self-redemption. Here he turns down all the basics of his life with his wife, as a state in the meeting of his mortality.
