Harry in Sweden/Hemingway Hero

Harry in Sweden
"A man who lives correctly, following the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and always painful." This is how Hemingway describes the Hemingway hero. Typically the Hemingway hero doesn’t show emotions to women, because this would show him as a weak man. The Hemingway heroes are therefore often adventuresome and brave. Hemingway heroes always seem to have some hope guiding them into the future.

He is a Hemingway hero

He travels and is adventuresome. He has a lot of flashbacks from different countries; Austria, Africa, (USA), France and Turkey.
At the end of his life he is very introspective.
Hemingway heroes or some of their relatives often dies in his stories. This can be proven by he is dying in the end.
Harry is a killermachine, you can see this in the text “Africa was where we had been happiest […] they had made this safari with the minimum of comfort. There was no hardship; but there was no luxury…” This quote shows that he is an adventuresome and a brave man, which isn’t afraid of challenges.
He is being honest to her and direct to her. He is not lying to her to satisfy her. “”Your damned money was my armor. My swift and my armor””Don’t””All right. I’ll stop that. I don’t want to hurt you.””It’s a little bit late now”” All right then. I’ll go hurting you. It’s more amusing.”” Here you can se that on his deathbed he wants to be honest to her.

He isn’t a Hemingway hero

“She shot very well this good, this rich bitch…” this quote shows him as an anti-hero and not a gentleman.
“Don’t pay any attention, darling, to what I say. I love you, rally. You know I love you. I’ve never loved anyone else the way I love you. […] He slipped into the familiar lie he made his bread and butter by.” This shows him as a liar, even though he is showing emotions, then he is lying to her own wife.
